Are We a Country of the Hopeless?

This weekend I had my grandchildren over and we watched my favorite kids fantasy movie "The Never Ending Story".  It's a story about a kingdom that is disappearing and being consumed by hopelessness.  One of the characters has a line: " The people who have no hope are the easiest to control and he who controls them has the power."  Isn't that like our country today?  We have no hope and we think all we have to do is elected the right leader and everything will be milk and honey.

Today the Labor Participation Rate: the percentage of working age adults who actually have a job is down to almost 60% -- that means 40% of adults have no job.

Today the home ownership rate is the lowest in 20 years down to almost 60% -- That means 40% of population is either renting or homeless.

Today most people that have a job work for wages paid by someone else.  Only about 5% of the population would be considered business owners, entrepreneurs or capitalists --- Those people with actual skin in the game.

We have become a nation of voters of the hopeless:

  • We encourage those with no jobs to vote
  • We encourage those who pay no taxes to vote
  • We encourage those who own no property to vote
  • We encourage those who have no savings or investments to vote
  • We encourage those with no education to vote
  • We encourage those who have no hope to vote
  • We encourage those who have no skin in the game to vote
We sell the myth that all you have to do is choose that candidate we are promoting and your life will become milk and honey.

Those who have no hope are the easiest to control and the person that control them has the power.

Wake up people.  Instead of becoming part of the 95% that have no hope, strive to become one of the 5% that holds all the power.  Plan today to take control of your own life and become a business owner, entrepreneur or a capitalist.  Make a difference by your actions.
