Asian stocks settled higher: Japan +2.44%, Hong Kong +1.57%, China +0.93%, Taiwan 0.64%, Australia +0.74%, Singapore +1.51%, South Korea +0.69%, India +0.37%. The dollar index (DXY00 +0.17%) is up +0.14%. EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is down -0.02%. USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is up +0.49%.

Friday's closes: TYU6 -26.00, FVU6 -17.25. Sep T-notes on Friday fell to a 1-week low and closed sharply lower on the larger-than-expected increase in U.S. July non-farm payrolls, which may prompt the Fed to raise interest rates sooner rather than later. T-notes were also undercut by reduced safe-haven demand with the rally in the S&P 500 to a record high.
The dollar index (DXY00 +0.17%) this morning is up +0.138 (+0.14%). EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is down -0.0002 (-0.02%). USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is up +0.50 (+0.49%). September E-mini S&Ps (ESU15 +0.28%)are up +0.29 % and European stocks are up +1.76% after the PBOC stepped up verbal support for the yuan. Technology stocks also are stronger led by a 4% gain in Cisco in pre-market trading after the company late yesterday beat Q4 EPS and revenue estimates. PBOC Deputy Governor added that the current exchange rate is now more consistent with economic fundamentals and the PBOC will act "when the market's volatility is excessive, when the market begins behaving like a herd of sheep."

MARKET COMMENTS
Sep E-mini S&Ps (ESU15 +0.28%) this morning are up +6.00 points (+0.29%). Wednesday's closes: S&P 500 +0.10%, Dow Jones unch, Nasdaq +0.31%. The S&P 500 on Wednesday opened sharply lower and posted a 1-month low, but recovered and closed slightly higher. Stocks were undercut by weakness in auto makers, miners and consumer-goods companies with large sales to China after the yuan plunged to a 4-year low against the dollar. Another negative factor was the -108,000 decline in U.S. Jun JOLTS job openings, a bigger decline than expectations of -13,000 to 5.35 million. Stocks rebounded on (1) a rally in energy producers sparked by the rally in crude oil, and (2) speculation grew that the market volatility from China's yuan devaluation will prompt the Fed to delay an interest rate increase.

T-notes lost most of their gains after stocks recovered.

The dollar index Wednesday slid to a 1-month low and closed lower on (1) concern that the Fed will delay a rate hike due to the Chinese volatility, and (2) strength in yen as USD/JPY fell to a 1-week low after the sell-off in global stocks boosted the safe-haven demand for the yen.
Sep crude oil (CLU15 -0.21%) this morning is up +15 cents (+0.35%) and Sep gasoline (RBU15 -1.00%) is down -0.0086 (-0.49%). Wednesday's closes: CLU5 +0.22 (+0.51%), RBU5 +0.0035 (+0.21%). OVERNIGHT MARKETS AND NEWS
September E-mini S&Ps (ESU15 -0.71%) are down -0.83% at a 4-week ow and European stocks are down -1.96% at a 1-month low on concern a slowdown in China could harm global growth. The Chinese yuan plunged to a 4-year low of 6.4489 per dollar on negative carry-over from Tuesday's action by the PBOC to devalue the currency. Emerging markets stocks and currencies also fell on concern those countries will also have to devalue their currencies to keep pace with China. Asian stocks closed lower: Japan -1.58%, Hong Kong -2.38%, China -1.06%, Taiwan -1.32%, Australia -1.67%, Singapore -2.90%, South Korea -0.28%, India -1.27%. Weaker-than-expected China Jul industrial production dragged Sep copper prices (HGU15 -0.32%) down -0.04% to a fresh 6-year low, which the increased global market volatility boosted demand for gold as a safe haven with Dec gold (ESU15 -0.71%) up +0.90% at a 3-week high.

Sep T-note prices (ZNU15 +0.18%) are up +10.5 ticks at a 3-1/4 month high as the plunge in stocks boosts safe-haven demand for government debt. MARKET COMMENTS
Sep E-mini S&Ps (ESU15 -0.71%) this morning are down -17.25 points (-0.83%) at a 4-week low. Tuesday's closes: S&P 500 -0.96%, Dow Jones -1.21%, Nasdaq -1.29%. The S&P 500 on Tuesday closed lower on weakness in Chinese exporters after the PBOC unexpectedly devalued the yuan. Stocks also saw weakness in commodity producers as crude oil fell to a 4-3/4 month low, and on concern about U.S. consumer demand after June wholesale inventories rose by +0.9% m/m, the biggest increase in 14 months.
Sep 10-year T-note prices (ZNU15 +0.18%) this morning are up +10.5 ticks at a new 3-1/4 month high. Tuesday's closes: TYU5 +27.0, FVU5 +15.00. Sep T-notes Tuesday rallied sharply to a 3-1/4 month nearest-futures high on talk that the Chinese economy may be even weaker than the market thinks after the Chinese central bank devalued the yuan by 1.9%. T-notes also received a boost on the decline in the 10-year T-note breakeven inflation rate to a 4-3/4 month low, and increased safe-haven demand for T-notes after stocks fell.
The dollar index (DXY00 -0.90%) this morning is down -0.835 (-0.86%) at a 1-week low. EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is up +0.0099 (+0.90%) at a 4-week high. USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is down -0.80 (-0.64%). The dollar found strength on the Chinese central bank's -1.9% devaluation of the yuan, which dragged other Asian currencies lower and boosted the dollar. Meanwhile, the dollar was undercut by euro strength after Greece reached an accord with creditors on the terms for a third bailout.
Sep crude oil (CLU15 +0.81%) this morning is up +70 cents (+1.62%) and Sep gasoline (RBU15 +1.34%) is up +0.0299 (+1.77%). Tuesday's closes: CLU5 -1.58 (-3.51%), RBU5 +0.0035 (+0.21%). Sep crude oil and gasoline settled mixed on Tuesday with Sep crude at a 4-3/4 month low. Crude oil closed lower on Chinese demand concerns after China devalued the yuan, which fueled concern that Chinese demand for foreign crude may fall as the weaker yuan boosts import costs. Crude oil prices also fell on OPEC data showing that Iran's July oil production rose +32,300 bpd to 2.86 million bpd, a 3-year high. Gasoline closed higher on production concerns after British Petroleum said its Whiting, Indiana refinery will be at reduced output for a month due to unplanned maintenance and Phillips 66 said its Bayway, New Jersey refinery will shut gasoline production for up to two weeks.

MARKET COMMENTS
June E-mini S&Ps (ESM15 +0.24%) this morning are up +3.75 points (+0.18%). Tuesday's closes: S&P 500 -1.18%, Dow Jones -0.79%, Nasdaq -1.63%. The S&P 500 on Tuesday closed lower on expectations for a downward revision in Q1 GDP due to the much wider-than-expected U.S. March trade deficit report of -$51.4 billion. In addition, the broad market was dragged down by weakness in semiconductor and biotechnology stocks.
Jun 10-year T-notes (ZNM15 -0.15%) this morning are down -3.5 ticks at a fresh 1-1/2 month low. Tuesday's closes: TYM5 -11.00, FVM5 -7.00. June T-bonds on Tuesday slid to a new 1-1/2 month low due to the unexpected increase in the Apr ISM non-manufacturing index to a 5-month high and carry-over weakness from a slump in German bund prices to a 3-1/4 month low.

Tuesday's closes: Dollar Index -0.404 (-0.42%), EUR/USD +0.00385 (+0.35%), USD/JPY -0.26 (-0.22%). The dollar index on Tuesday closed lower on expectations that an expected downward revision in Q1 GDP from the much wider-than-expected U.S. Mar trade deficit report of -$51.4 billion could delay a Fed rate hike. EUR/USD saw strength after the European Commission raised its Eurozone 2015 GDP forecast to 1.5% from Feb's estimate of 1.3%.
Jun WTI crude oil (CLM15 +2.33%) this morning is up +$1.43 a barrel (+2.37%) at a 4-3/4 month high and Jun gasoline (RBM15 +1.19%) is up +0.0230 (+1.11%) at a 5-3/4 month high. Jun crude oil and gasoline closed higher on Monday with Jun crude at a 4-3/4 month high and Jun gasoline at a 5-1/4 month high as the market is hoping for Wednesday's EIA report to show the second weekly decline in Cushing crude oil inventories and on ideas that U.S. oil production may drop as well.
