OVERNIGHT MARKETS AND NEWS
Jun E-mini S&Ps (ESM16 +0.11%)are up +0.04% at a 1-1/4 month high on optimism that a strengthening U.S. economy could handle another 25 bp rate hike from the Fed. Fed Chair Yellen said Friday afternoon that an improving economy would probably warrant another rate increase "in the coming months." Strength in crude oil prices is lifting energy producers, while European stocks are down -0.33% as automakers declined after Volkswagen dropped over 3% when it reported an 86% plunge in quarterly profit due to its emissions-cheating scandal. European stocks were also undercut after an unexpected decline in German Apr retail sales. Asian stocks settled mostly higher: Japan +0.98%, Hong Kong +0.90%, China +3.34%, Taiwan unch, Australia -0.54%, Singapore -0.20%, South Korea +0.79%, India -0.22%. China's Shanghai Composite climbed to a 3-week high after Goldman Sachs said that it was likely that the stocks in the Shanghai Composite would be included in MSCI Inc.'s global benchmark indexes. Japan's Nikkei Stock Index rose to a 1-month high on optimism the Japanese government will delay an increase in the sales tax after senior officials from Prime Minister Abe's ruling party and its coalition partner said that Prime Minister Abe wants to put off a planned national sale tax increase for 2-1/2 years.
The dollar index (DXY00 -0.01%) is up +0.09%. EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is up +0.13%. USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is down -0.04%.
Jun T-note prices (ZNM16 -0.24%) are down -12.5 ticks.
German Apr retail sales unexpectedly fell -0.9% m/m, weaker than expectations of +0.9% m/m.
The Eurozone May CPI estimate fell -0.1% y/y, right on expectations. The May core CPI rose +0.8% y/y, right on expectations.

Reuters reports that Williams Cos (WMB +3.22%) has informed Energy Transfer Equity ETE that it is open to considering a new offer that would replace the $6 billion portion of the deal with shares in the acquisition vehicle that Energy Transfer will create.
Osiris Therapeutics (OSIR +1.43%) slumped 10% in after-hours trading after it said a criminal probe against the company was started by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
MARKET COMMENTS
June E-mini S&Ps (ESM16 +0.11%) this morning up +0.75 of a point (+0.04%) at a 1-1/4 month high. Friday's closes: S&P 500 +0.43%, Dow Jones +0.25%, Nasdaq +0.55%. The S&P 500 Friday rallied to a 1-1/4 month high and closed higher on the upward revision to U.S. Q1 GDP to +0.8% from +0.5% and on optimism that the U.S. economy is strong enough to handle further Fed rate hikes. Stocks were undercut by the -1.1 point decline in final-May University of Michigan U.S. consumer sentiment index to 94.7, weaker than expectations of -0.4 to 95.4.
June 10-year T-note prices (ZNM16 -0.24%) this morning are down -12.5 ticks. Friday's closes: TYM6 -3.50, FVM6 -3.00. Jun T-notes on Friday closed lower on the upward revision to U.S. Q1 GDP to +0.8% from +0.5%, hawkish comments from Fed Chair Yellen who said a Fed rate hike in coming months may be "appropriate," and reduced safe-haven demand with the rally in stocks.

July WTI crude oil (CLN16 +0.47%) this morning is up +14 cents (+0.28%). July gasoline (RBN16 -0.90%) is down -0.0192 (-1.17%). Friday's closes: CLN6 -0.15 (-0.30%), RBN6 +0.0111 (+0.68%). July crude oil and gasoline prices on Friday settled mixed as July gasoline rebounded from a 1-week low. Crude oil prices were undercut by the rally in the dollar index to a 2-month high and by the restart of oil-sands facilities in Alberta as wildfire risks abated. Gasoline prices were boosted by signs of stronger demand as the AAA estimates that 38 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this Memorial holiday weekend, up +2.2% y/y and the second-highest ever.

OVERNIGHT MARKETS AND NEWS
Jun E-mini S&Ps (ESM16 +0.16%) are little changed up +0.01% as a +1.95% rally in crude oil (CLM16 +2.16%) to a 6-1/2 month high underpins energy producers. Signs of increased M&A activity is another positive for stocks with Yahoo up nearly 2% in pre-market trading after people familiar with the matter said that Warren Buffett is backing a group bidding for the company's internet assets. European stocks are down -0.67% in thin trade with Germany and Switzerland closed for holiday. Asian stocks settled higher: Japan +0.33%, Hong Kong +0.84%, China +0.84%, Taiwan +0.17%, Australia +0.56%, Singapore +0.04%, South Korea +0.09%, India +0.64%. Despite weaker-than-expected Chinese economic data on Apr industrial production and retail sales, Asian stocks closed higher after the PBOC issued a statement saying that it will create appropriate monetary and financial environment to facilitate steady economic growth.
The dollar index (DXY00 -0.05%) is down -0.06%. EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is up +0.14%. USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is up +0.21%.
Jun T-note prices (ZNM16 -0.11%) are down -3 ticks after a Washington Post story quoted Richmond Fed President Lacker saying "at this point it looks to me as if the case for raising rates looks to be pretty strong in June as inflation is moving decidedly toward 2% and the labor markets have tightened significantly."
In a statement released on its website, the PBOC said the slowdown in new yuan loan growth last month was mainly due to an acceleration in local government debt swaps and that prudent monetary policy remains unchanged, overall credit supply and aggregate financing growth are steady, and the PBOC will create appropriate monetary and financial environment to facilitate steady economic growth.
China Apr industrial production rose +5.8% year-to-date y/y, unch from Mar and weaker than expectations of +6.1% year-to-date y/y.
China Apr retail sales rose +10.3% year-to-date y/y, unch from Mar and weaker than expectations of +10.4% year-to-date y/y.

MARKET COMMENTS
June E-mini S&Ps (ESM16 +0.16%) this morning are little changed, up +0.25 of a point (+0.01%). Friday's closes: S&P 500 -0.85%, Dow Jones -1.05%, Nasdaq -0.37%. The S&P 500 on Friday closed lower on concern about a sooner-than-expected Fed rate hike after the very strong U.S. retail sales and consumer sentiment reports. In addition, retail stocks moved lower, led by a -13% plunge in Nordstrom, after the retailer cut its full-year earnings forecast and added to evidence that the U.S. department-store industry is in a deep and probably permanent slump. Stocks were boosted by improved confidence about the U.S. economy after U.S. Apr retail sales rose +1.3% and +0.8% ex-autos, stronger than expectations of +0.8% and +0.5% ex-autos, and by the +6.8 point increase in the U.S. May University of Michigan U.S. consumer sentiment index to an 11-month high of 95.8, stronger than expectations of +0.5 to 89.5.
June 10-year T-note prices (ZNM16 -0.11%) this morning are down -3 ticks. Friday's closes: TYM6 +12.00, FVM6 +5.25. Jun T-notes on Friday closed higher on increased safe-haven demand with the sell-off in stocks. T-notes were above to shake off the strong U.S. retail sales and consumer sentiment reports.

Crude oil prices were undercut by the rally in the dollar index to a 2-1/2 week high and by the ongoing U.S. crude oil supply glut with U.S. crude inventories at +33% above their 5-year average. Crude oil prices received a boost from Baker Hughes' report that the number of active U.S. oil rigs fell by another -10rigs to 318 in the week ended May 13, the fewest in 6-1/2 years.

OVERNIGHT MARKETS AND NEWS
Jun E-mini S&Ps (ESM16 +0.57%) are up +0.60% and European stocks are up +0.95% as a +0.89% rally in Jun WTI crude oil (CLM16 +0.82%) to a 1-1/2 week high lifts energy producing stocks. Crude oil is higher after the IEA cut its global crude oil surplus estimate for the first half of 2016 to 1.3 million bpd from 1.5 million bpd forecast last month, citing robust demand in India and other emerging markets. European stocks rose despite an unexpected decline in Eurozone Mar industrial production. Asian stocks settled mixed: Japan +0.41%, Hong Kong -0.70%, China -0.04%, Taiwan-0.34%, Australia -0.24%, Singapore +0.46%, South Korea -0.30%, India +0.75%. Gains in Japanese stocks were held back by a -1.4% drop in Toyota after the automaker forecast its yearly profit will probably decline for the first time in 5 years.
The dollar index (DXY00 +0.26%) is up +0.26%. EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is down -0.27%% after Eurozone Mar industrial production unexpectedly fell. USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is up +0.73%.
Jun T-note prices (ZNM16 -0.17%) are down -7.5 ticks.
As expected, the BOE kept its benchmark rate unchanged at 0.50% and maintained its asset purchase target at 375 billion pounds following today's policy meeting. The BOE also cut its UK 2016 GDP forecast to 2.0% from a 2.2% estimate in Feb, citing uncertainty regarding next month's referendum on whether the UK will remain in the European Union.
Eurozone Mar industrial production unexpectedly fell -0.8% m/m, weaker than expectations of no change.

MORNING CALL

OVERNIGHT MARKETS AND NEWS
March E-mini S&Ps (ESH16 -0.90%) are down -0.81% and European stocks are down -2.34% at a 1-week low as they track crude oil prices, which are down -3.58%. Crude oil prices extended their declines late yesterday after API data showed U.S. crude supplies expanded by +7.1 million bbl last week. A sell-off in copper prices has also hurt miners and commodity producers with Glencore Plc and BHP Billiton down at least 7%, while Freeport-McMoRan and Alcoa are both down over 2%. The Chinese yuan fell to a 1-1/2 week low against the dollar ahead of the G-20 meeting in Shanghai on Feb 26-27 where people with knowledge of the agenda said officials from the world's biggest economies will discuss the recent turmoil in China's markets and ways to bolster a safety net for the global financial system. Asian stocks settled mostly lower: Japan -0.85%, Hong Kong -1.15%, China +0.88%, Taiwan -0.62%, Australia-2.10%, Singapore -1.95%, South Korea -0.05%, India -1.37%.
The dollar index (DXY00 +0.42%) is up +0.42% at a 3-week high. EUR/USD (^EURUSD) is down -0.51% at a 3-wek low. USD/JPY (^USDJPY) is down-0.25%. GBP/USD is down -0.92% at a 6-3/4 year low on concern that Britons will vote to leave the EU in a June referendum.
Mar T-note prices (ZNH16 +0.30%) are up +13 ticks at a 1-week high as the slide in stock prices boosts the safe-haven demand of government debt. T-notes also found support on carryover from a plunge in the 10-year German bund yield to a 10-month low of 0.131%.

Ford Motor (F -1.11%) was downgraded to 'Underperform' from 'Neutral' at Credit Suisse.
DreamWorks Animation(DWA -2.09%) jumped over 7% in after-hours trading after it reported Q4 adjusted EPS of 55 cents, over three times expectations of 15 cents.
WebMD Health Corp. (WBMD -0.19%) rose almost 3% in after-hours trading after it said it sees 2016 revenue of $685 million-$8705 million, above consensus of $689.3 million.
Dycom Industries (DY -0.65%) slumped 15% in after-hours trading after it reported Q2 adjusted EPS of 54 cents, weaker than consensus of 56 cents, and hen said it sees Q3 EPS of 70 cent-80 cents, below consensus of 84 cents.
Deere & Co. (DE -1.61%) was upgraded to 'Buy' from 'Hold' at Argus Research.
Copart (CPRT -0.66%) reported Q2 EPS of 48 cents, higher than consensus of 43 cents.
Ormat Technologies (ORA -0.38%) raised guidance on fiscal 2016 revenue to $620 million-$640 million, higher than consensus of $608.7 million.
MSA Safety (MSA +0.26%) reported Q4 adjusted EPS of 84 cents, better than consensus of 68 cents,
Trexx Co. (TREX +9.75%) gained almost 2% in after-hours trading after it reported it will replace Snyder's-Lance in the SmallCap 600 after the close of trading Wednesday, February 24.
AMAG Pharmaceuticals (AMAG +1.11%) rose over 3% in after-hours trading after it reported it will replace Diamond Foods (DMND +0.97%) in the SmallCap 600 after the close of trading Monday. February 29.
Snyder's-Lance (LNCE +1.47%) climbed almost 2% in after-hours trading after it reported it will replace California Resources in the MidCap 400 at the close of trading Wednesday, February 24.
Morgan Stanley (MS -3.38%) said its energy loan exposure at the end of Q4 was $15.9 billion, down from $17.2 billion at the end of Q3.

MARKET COMMENTS
Mar E-mini S&Ps (ESH16 -0.90%) this morning are down -15.50 points (-0.81%). Tuesday's closes: S&P 500 -1.25%, Dow Jones -1.14%, Nasdaq -1.62%. The S&P 500 on Tuesday closed lower on fall in the yuan fell to a 1-week low against the dollar, the -5.6 point decline in U.S. Feb consumer confidence to 92.2 (weaker than expectations of -0.9 to 97.2 and the lowest in 7 months), and the slide in energy producer stocks after crude oil fell by more than 6%.
Mar 10-year T-notes (ZNH16 +0.30%) this morning are up +13 ticks a a 1-week high. Tuesday's closes: TYH6 +5.00, FVH6 +3.50. Mar T-notes on Tuesday closed higher on increased safe-haven demand with the sell-off in stocks and on Dallas Fed President Kaplan's comment that the Fed should be open to leaving policy on hold for an extended time if needed.

The dollar index on Tuesday closed higher on continued weakness in GBP/USD which fell to a fresh 6-3/4 year low after BOE Governor Carney acknowledged that there was a chance of Brexit. The dollar was also boosted by weakness in EUR/USD, which fell to a 2-1/2 week low on news that the German Feb IFO business climate index fell -1.6 to 14-month low of 105.7.
Apr WTI crude (CLJ16 -3.42%) this morning is down -$1.14 a barrel (-3.58%) and Apr gasoline (RBJ16 -0.80%) is down -0.0099 (-0.81%). Tuesday's closes: CLJ6 -2.02 (-6.05%), RBJ6 -0.0390 (-3.12%). Apr crude oil and gasoline on Tuesday closed sharply lower on dashed hopes for a production cut after Saudi Arabian oil minister Ali al-Naimi said that Saudi Arabia "isn't cutting output." In addition, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that Russia's and Saudi Arabia's plan to freeze production at current levels was "ridiculous" as it puts "unrealistic demands" on Iran.
