The Top 2 NASDAQ 100 Stocks

Why only 2 stocks instead of the Top 5? Because the market stinks!. For me to feature a stock it must meet a minimum hurdle. The stock must have technical buy signals of 80% or more, be trading above its 20, 50 and 100 Day Moving Averages and have a positive 50-100 Day MACD Oscillator. Only 2 NASDAQ 100 stocks make the grade.

How bad is the market? As I'm writing this post the majority of the 10,000+ stock in the Barchart database are trading below their 20, 50 and 100 DMAs. Those trading above are:

29.19% above their 20 DMA
15.55% above their 50 DMA
14.74% above their 100 DMA

That's pretty bad. Agreed?

Ok, the 2 stocks making the grade are Mattel (MAT) and Fastenal (FAST).

The 5 Worst NASDAQ 100 Stocks

Today I used Barchart to sort the NASDAQ 100 Index stocks to find the stocks with the worst technical sell signals. You might note that just a few months ago most of these were on my list of Best NASDAQ 100 stocks. Just another reason why buy and hold should be a dead issue before you let the fickled finger of fate tank your portfolio.

The list includes Keurig Green Mountain (GMCR), Kla-Tencor (KLAC), Alexion Pharmaceuticals (ALXN), Fastenal (FAST) and Microsoft (MSFT):

The Best of the NASDAQ1 100

Today I used Barchart to sort the NASDAQ 100 Index to find the stocks with the best technical indicators and charts. First I sorted for new high frequency in the last month. Next I skipped the stocks that didn't have positive gains for the last week and month and didn't have a Trend Spotter buy. Lastly I used the Flipchart feature to find the charts I liked.

NASDAQ 100 Signal Caution

Today I sorted the NASDAQ 100 Index to find the 5 with the best Barchart technical indicators and charts and did not like what I saw. I am giving a big signal of caution to all technical and momentum investors. This is a declining market and I do not buy into declining markets.

Look at this hourly chart of the Value Line Index over the last 28 days and you can see the hourly declines:

On the close Friday 55.06% of all the stocks traded below their 20 day moving averages and there were 2856 declines to 977 advances - That's a 3 to 1 decline in the market. Sit on the side line and be ready to jump in when the market reverses.

These are not buy recommendations but are just given for information. They are the 5 with the highest Barchart technical indicators but NONE has a score of 100%. The list includes Fastenal (FAST), Virgin Media (VMED), Akamai Technologies (AKAM), Expeditor's International of Washington (EXPD), and Oracle (ORCL):
