Small Caps Showing Promise

In the last 3 months Small Cap stocks have had a hard time. Today 60.17% of the stocks on the S&P 600 Small Cap Index have lost money in the last 3 months. However, there may be a bright spot. Today 72.03% of those same stocks are trading above their 20 day moving averages. It's too early to say the market is trending up; I'll say that when 50% of these stocks are trading above their 20, 50 and 100 day moving averages. Till then, on Stock Picks I'll point out a few that are having good momentum.

I used Barchart to sort the S&P 600 Small Cap Index stocks to find the stocks that have the best technical buy signals and are trading above their 20, 50 and 100 day moving averages.

Today's list includes Wageworks (WAGR), Vicor Corp (VICR), Marriot Vacations Worldwide (VAC), Sterling Bancorp (STL) and Sonic (SONC):

Any Bright Spots in Small Caps?

Small Caps have been under performing the overall market lately. The S&P 600 Small Cap Index is down 11.17% from its previous high on July 1. The Weighted Alpha of the Index is -3.87 and the Relative Strength Index is only 29.36%. Are there any bright spots here?

I used Barchart to sort the stock in the Index first for the highest technical buy signals, then I used the Flipchart feature to find the charts I liked. Today's list includes Vicor Corp (VICR), Caseys General Stores (CASY), Treehouse Foods (THS), ICU Medical (ICUI) and DTS Inc (DTSI):

5 Good Small Caps

Small Caps have had a hard time recently so I wanted to see if any were having a good day. I used Barchart to sort the S&P 600 Small Cap Index stocks first for the highest technical buy signals then used the Flipchart feature to review the charts.
