5 Mid Caps for Momentum Investors

Today I wanted to find 5 Mid Cap stocks that would be of interest to Momentum Investors.  I used Barchart to sort the S&P 400 Mid Cap Index stocks first for the most frequent number of new highs in the last month, then again for technical buy signals of 80% or more.  It just so happened that the best 5 were all REITs.  Today's Watch List includes:

Healthcare Realty Trusts (HR), Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI), Duke Realty (DRE), Medical Properties Trust (MPW) and Senior Housing Properties Trust (SNH).

Healthcare Realty Trust (HR)

• 18 new highs and up 8.73% in the last month
• Relative Strength Index 74.25%
• Technical support level at 33.80
• Recently traded at 33.89 with a 50 day moving average of 31.75

Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI)

• Above its 20, 50 and 10 day moving averages
• 18 new highs and up 10.15% in the last month

Caution on REITS

Today I used Barchart to sort the S&P 400 Mid Cap Stock Index to find the stocks that had the most frequent new highs in the last month but found something very curious.  Not only were they all REITS but all had lower technical buy signals due to a pull back in their prices in the last 5 days.  I don't know if this signals the REIT sector is over valued and due for a pull back but this is something you should monitor.
